Staying Productive in a Crazy World

Anyone else distracted this week?

I know I am not alone in my struggle to comprehend what is happening all around us - both here in the US and around the world.  My heart is heavy and I'm sure yours is too.

I also find that I'm struggling with prioritizing and determining what is important.  This conflicts with a workshop I listened to on Tuesday (the Product Boss)  that focused on time-blocking and getting more done.

As fall approaches, school begins, and my husband and I once again settle into our "empty-nester" routine, I am working hard to find a system that works for me to keep track of the tasks I need to complete.  Today I'm starting by making one big master list.  There is no way I can get all the things done in one week, but at least it is all out on paper and out of my head.

Next, I am going to identify the most important to complete this week.  I'm hoping I can keep that list to 10 or fewer things, but we shall see how that goes.

Finally, I'm going to block off time each day of the week to focus on one item.  In theory, I'd like to have two major tasks per day and maybe 1-2 smaller items.  Three tasks per day for completion.  I should be able to handle that, right?

How I work and how I focus are areas that have changed drastically as I have transitioned to the life of an entrepreneur.  I'm trying to give myself grace as I get it all figured out.  And I hope that you, too, give yourself grace as we head into another school year of uncertainty and change.  Most importantly, make sure that your schedule has time carved into it for YOU!  If we don't take care of ourselves, we definitely can't get things done and take care of others.
